About us

A diverse and unique community

Our Community

Elbow Park is a charming and vibrant community located in Calgary's innercity. With its park-like charm, heritage homes, parks, schools, sense of spaciousness, and natural beauty, it is one of Calgary's most appealing places to live.

The Elbow River winds it way through the neighbourhood and connects residents to the river pathway system that expands the entire City.  Mature trees provide a beautiful canopy for many of the narrow, residential streets. The original lots of Elbow Park were originally sold in 25 foot sections. The community has evolved into a mixture of lots ranging from 25 to 100 feet, all interspersed. House designs are as unique as our residents. Many of the area’s original homes remain in good condition and some are designated as heritage sites. Many of the older homes have been renovated in order to maintain their original character and many new developments have replicated the historic period. Some streets in the upper area of Elbow Park and along the river have homes that have a more modern design. This diverse housing makes for a diverse and unique community.

The numerous schools, parks, playgrounds, skating rinks, basketball and tennis courts bring the community together and creates a strong sense of community spirit.  See useful links

Our History

The community of Elbow Park was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1907 and development began in 1910. The Elbow Park Residents Association was formed in 1930 making it the oldest community association in Calgary.
