1.                    President Barbara Mathies called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m.

 

2.                    Motion to accept minutes from November 20, 2001 meeting

3.             Development – B. Mathies

 

·          Encroachment on 4 sites in East Elbow Park

·          Administration fee for road closure notices may be waived by the City

·          Need to encourage ‘Adopt-a-Park ‘ program within the community

·          Garden Lane Appeal – moved to January 24, 2002.

·          Christ Church  - concerns have been raised within the community with the Church’s redevelopment plans.

·          Sale of Valentine property in E. Elbow Park has gone through.  The lot will be 42’ wide and a new house will be built on it.

·          Development proposal for house on northeast corner of 36th Ave & 7A St. S.W.  Development stages only.

·          Addition to William Reid school and impact on St. Pat’s school

·          Casino – our next casino is slotted for 3rd quarter of 2002.  A new chairperson is still needed.  The Stampede Casino has been suggested as the optimum choice.

·          Grassroots hockey and Ice Skating lessons have been very successful.  The hockey is fully subscribed.

·          Ward 8 meeting – Madeline King will be holding a meeting on Thursday, Jan 22

 

4.                    Membership – Don Snow

 

·          6 blocks remain outstanding

·          $13,515 collected (not including hockey collection)

·          Very successful drive this year

·          Thanks to all volunteers will be included in next gazette

 

5.                    Clubhouse Rental  - Jane Hartford

 

·          Dec / 01 was a very busy month

·          No Spring Art Show but there may be 2 Fall Art Shows.

·          Reviewed Alarm set-up and operation

6.                    Aldermanic Report – Madeline King, Ward 8

 

Richard Drudl will be coming to Calgary to provide consultant services to Elbow Park.  A date has note been set.

 

Several letters have been received from areas impacted by the Elbow Drive proposed traffic slow down changes.

 

Mt. Royal would like to move ahead with their proposed road use changes.

 

Storm Sewer replacement on 32nd Avenue is being reviewed along with alternatives to the proposal.

                               

 

7.             Budget – B. Mathies

 

·          $30,000 in available funds.

8.                    By-Law Revision  - D. Poole

 

·          C02 pollution from streetlights is causing concern.  Recent stats show high light usage encourages vandalism.  Diane would like to see alley lights removed.

·          Low-sodium lights are a better alternative and are more efficient.

 

 

9.                   Block Watch – Alana Kitchen

 

·          Next meeting will be held in March
