Traffic
calming on Elbow Drive construction has been horrible. Six weeks for completion August and
September. However, people who do
line assignments were not notified, Enmax not informed
Contractor
eight weeks over budget. Signals
were supposed to be moved and only finally moved them recently.
City
fell down on coordination of this construction as complete situation is awful.
Danger
to kids crossing road. Police
helped only by directing traffic.
Two days later the police showed up with traffic enforcement.
Rebuild
Sifton corner $35,000 and it will result in huge traffic backlog. They will pour curb on top of pavement
and they will finish it in the spring.
No
traffic calming will take place South of Elbow River and it will not go to 40
KM.
Elbow
Drive is currently posted at 40km/hr zone.
Normal
playground zone is 3/10 of a km and we have 6/10 of a km. BarryŐs suggestion is to lower speed
limit to 40km and shorten playground zone.
Wait
until project is finished to assess the impact and what changes need to be
Made.
Barry
wants to examine areas that need protection rather than have such a long
playground zone.
Take
the recommendations to the Traffic Committee to research after Elbow Drive
construction is done.
