ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

 

October 16, 2001

 

 

 

1.                    President Barbara Mathies called the meeting to order at 7:20.m.

 

2.                    Motion to accept minutes from September 18, 2001

3.                    Years Activities – Barbara Mathies

 

Clubhouse -          Police recommend better lighting and hostile shrubbery.  Nancy Larsen is looking into available grants and costing.

 

Police Response to complaints

 

If you wish to have the police attend to problems in the area it helps to report the disturbance and a possible fight.  Nuisance complaints have very low priority with the police and their subsequent response time.

 

 

4.                    Tennis – Diane Poole

 

The year was a great success, the Glencoe maintained good rapport with the community.  There are several improvements planned for next year.  The cut-off date for existing members will be moved up in 2001 and more junior programs will be offered.

 

5.                    Telus Building – Diane Poole

 

The installation of the new fencing is complete.  The plan to share security costs between Telus, Christ Church and the community continue to be worked on.

 

6.                    Block Watch – Barbara Mathies ( For Alana Kitchen)

 

There will be a training meeting on November 7th, which will set the program for 5 years.  Block Captains are still required.  The program has changed considerably.  Recent publications on the Internet indicate that Vandalism is up.

 

7.                    Traffic – Belinda McDowell

 

A)            Sifton Beautification -              Resistance from for the City on some of the measures continue.

B)            Elbow Drive -                          Traffic calming measures are being planned from 58th Ave. S.W. north

                                                                To 5th Street.  Open houses are planned.

C)                   Inner-Community Traffic Study – New Playground zone has been implemented.

D)                   Median at 7th St. & 30th Ave.   The City has generated the work order.

E)                   Curb Bulbs on 30th Ave.          A meeting was held with the City, drawings should be forthcoming.

F)                   40k Survey                              289 responses were received, 89% favoured changing the speed limit.

                               

 

8.                    Development

 

Chairperson is Diane Conway. 

More members are needed.

9.             Grounds – Gary Hartwell

               

Rent has not been negotiated with the Hockey Board as we are waiting for the Grassroots Hockey sing-up

Numbers.

 

Hockey boards should be up by the end of October.                                                                     

 

10.           Clubhouse Rentals – Jane Hartford

11.        Gazette

 

            A new volunteer is needed to assume position of Gazette Coordinator.  Gail Robinson would like to move to the

                Development Committee.

12.            Elbow Park School Enhancement Plan

 

 

13.            By-Law Committee – Diane Poole

 

Diane is involved with a new committee formed by the City to look at the City By-laws.

First input will be noise.

Every ward has a representative on the committee.

 

14.              Tax Levy Proposal

 

The community is looking at implementing a levy on the municipal taxes as an option for collection memberships.

               

15.              Budget Planning

 

The November 20th community meeting will be for budget planning.

 

16.            Christ Church – Storm Purdy

 

Christ Church has made some renovations to their stained glass window to prevent further vandalism.  The support any measures to prevent vandalism.

 

A committee has been form within the church to look at a possible renovation to the building and a parking area.

 

17.        Treasury – Carol Mallabone

 

See attached financials for the year ended August 31, 2001

Revenue is down due to timing of Grant receipts.

$10,700 received from City towards cost of stairwell at 34th Ave.

$15,000 – Casino Revenue – Community portion only.

 

18.           Nominations

 

                All directors voted in by acclamation.
