Sifton Open by Monday Oct 27th
With the final construction on the Sifton/Elbow
intersection underway congestion has increased on Elbow Drive causing commuters
to short cut through the community. Sifton west bound has been closed for
several days.
Sifton should be open
before Monday Oct 27 and alleviate the problems. The city has been asked to
provide better traffic control during the rest of the construction. As well the
Police Service has been asked to ticket those who speed or make illegal turns.
The Police Service will also have a presence after construction is complete to
ensure that people are not continuing to make illegal turns or speed in the
neighbourhood.
Thanks for your patience
- it will be rewarded with a much more beautiful and calmer Elbow
Drive.
The Elbow Drive project should
be complete by the end of November. Until that time some congestion may occur.
The city is more aware of the problems caused and an increased Police presence
and a better detour plan should be implemented. The closing of Sifton will
occur once again briefly but the city has promised it will be handled
better.
