Elbow Drive Streetscape Plan Still Under Construction

The Elbow Drive Streetscape Plan is still being constructed.

The Elbow Drive Streetscape Plan is still being constructed.

Currently the Elbow Drive/Sifton Blvd intersection is being converted to a T-intersection that will allow both right and left turns from Sifton Blvd onto Elbow Drive. This will make the intersection safer for pedestrians. Traffic turning north on Elbow Drive will no longer be redirected through the community residential streets along side Elbow Park School.

A new bicycle path adjacent to the roadway is being added on the river side of Elbow Drive along the length of Wood's Park. This new path will be wide enough for both bicycles and in-line skaters. The narrower riverside paths will be retained for pedestrians only. The pedestrian and bicycle paths will merge to the north at the 29 Ave crosswalk and bus stop. The pathway will be raised to grade level at this point to provide access to the crosswalk and bus stop for the disabled. North of 29 Ave the pathway will be rebuilt and widened to meet current City standards.

New decorative light standards will be installed on the northern portion of Elbow Drive. The cost of these standards is borne by the City contribution to enhanced features (10% of the basic infrastructure cost) and the City's portion of replacing older equipment as well as donations made by residents to the Elbow Park Beautification fund. Decorative bollards will also be installed funded by resident donations.

To make a donation to the Elbow Park Beautification Fund please call Barbara Mathies (243-2133) or Dave Mackie (287-9989) or download a donation fund by clicking here.

More than $30,000 has been raised already!
