Elbow Drive Streetscape Plan Complete

The Elbow Drive Streetscape Plan construction is complete except for several street lamps. The uncertainty of the Vango subdivision and development has delayed installation of these street lamps.

Vango Subdivision and Development

A new subdivision approved by the City of Calgary and subsequent demolition of houses has occured on Elbow Drive in Elbow Park. Currently the Vango project has proposed reducing the lot size to 50 feet and constructing 4 houses with a common driveway.

The proposal has generated controversy in the community and significant opposition to this development was voiced at the EPRA Annual General Meeting in October 2005. The EPRA development committee has had discussions with the developer. Local residents have retained legal counsel and have asked the EPRA to support them in their opposition to this development.

A development permit has not been issued, even though demolition of the houses and an historic stone wall and removal of trees has already occured.
